Finally — a shirt that works as hard as you do.

Say goodbye to sweat-drenched, uncomfortable gym shirts and hello to the best thing to happen to your training sessions since protein shakes.

Benefits of the Bamboo Workout Shirt

SUPER COMFORTABLE. Look, getting outside your comfort zone is great and all, but that go-getter mindset only goes so far. You deserve to be comfortable in your workout clothing. Heck, your performance may depend on it.

HIGHLY BREATHABLE. Bamboo is are naturally porous, allowing for air to circulate freely through the fabric. This helps to keep you cool and comfortable during even the most intense workouts. Now that’s a breath of fresh air.

MOISTURE WICKING. Bamboo absorbs sweat and moisture from the skin and moves it away from the body. So long! See ya! No more feeling overheated and sweaty — you’ll stay as cool as a (super swole) cucumber.

ECO-FRIENDLY. Bamboo is a sustainable resource that grows quickly and doesn’t require pesticides or fertilizers to thrive. So not only will you feel good in your bamboo workout shirt, but you can feel good about wearing it too. Sure, you’re training to get strong and feel great, but hey, if you happen to save the planet in the process, that’s just a bonus.

When I began this project, I surveyed several athletes about what complaints they had about current shirt options.

Myself and a selected group of testers have been extensively trialling the bamboo workout shirt for nearly a year in various scenarios to test its most desirable attributes. Here are some of our findings:

SCENARIO 1

Squatting

My personal biggest pet peeve with a lot of the fitness apparel out there is it’s slippery and sub-optimal for squatting in. When you have 1, 2, 3, 4, or even 500lbs on your back, it needs to feel completely secure, and that starts with the fabric. We tested in several situations with the early designs, including heavy/max loads with competitive powerlifters, to light high rep-high sweat squat workouts and found the material to be perfect for both scenarios.

SCENARIO 2

Extreme sweat and stink test

I can honestly say that I’m probably one of the sweatiest and smelliest guys you’ll ever meet (at least I’m honest!). I cannot train in pure polyester shirts: they become unbearably stink typically by the end of warm-up. A 50/50 cotton blend has been my go-to, which is OK for my heavy lifting days, but any WOD that has me working hard and sweating, by round 3 I’m swimming, and you can forget about using the shirt again before a wash. So I put the shirt through the Peruvian Andes. I bought my three tester WOD shirts and one cotton blend shirt. By the 5th day, did my WOD shirts stink? Yes absolutely, but even after the grueling hikes, it was wearable and dried quickly. My cotton shirt, on the other hand, was toast.

SCENARIO 3

The Fit

When I initially surveyed athletes about their biggest problems with their training shirts there were three commons complaints:

1. Tight shirts constrict, rather than comfort to the body.
2. They tend to ride up during workouts.
3. There is always a noticeable feel to them, which is annoying during a workout.

The WOD shirt combats these problems with its innovative fabric blend. The tester’s feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

Cotton vs. Bamboo

Pesticides/Insecticides Required

2.4% of the world’s crop land is in cotton, 24% and 11% of the global sales of insecticide and pesticides

Most bamboo holds organic status

Yield

2 tonnes per hectare

60 tonnes per hectare status

Can be used for

Textiles and some food

Textiles, food, construction, and replace nearly anything that can be made of wood

CO2 Production

Hervesting organic cotton requires the destruction of the entire crop causing bare soils to break in the sun and release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere

Bamboo minimizes CO2 and generates up to 35% more oxygen than equivalent stands of trees status

Soil Erosion

Yearly replanting of cotton leads to soil erosion

Bamboo helps preserve soil and prevent soil erosion

Required climate for growth

Cotton needs specific climate required

Bamboo can growth in diverse and harsh climates
